BEK can provide site specific flood risk assessments to support planning applications for residential and commercial developments in order to satisfy Environment Agency and local planning authority requirements.
Flood risk assessments are often requested during the planning process if a development is located within flood zone 2 or 3 of the Environment Agency Flood Map or if a site is greater than 1 hectare in size.
Our flood risk assessments evaluate the risk of flooding to each specific site from various sources including:
- Flooding from rivers and the sea
- Groundwater flooding
- Surface water flooding
- Artificial water sources (e.g. reservoirs or ponds)
If you have any concerns regarding flooding at your property or have a planning condition which needs to be addressed, please do not hesitate to give us a call for assistance from one of our flood specialists.
We can also provide indicative surface water drainage information for developments and provide advice on suitable sustainable drainage systems (SUDs) for managing increased flows as a result of development. See our ‘Drainage Design’ page for more information on this.
